» I have occasionally written as a New York correspondent for the Rumbo chain of newspapers in Texas. Here are some stories, including coverage of Election Day in Mexico City in July 2, 2006. (In Spanish.)

AMLO vs. Felipe: Voters' opinions on Election Day reflected how polarized Mexican society was leading up to the vote to name Vicente Fox's successor. I went from the affluent Polanco neighborhood and the hip Condesa section to working-class Colonia Doctores.

Gang vs. School: Mexican teenagers in New York suffer from the highest high-school dropout rate. I talked to a group of them, who said that many times the choice is stark: stay in school or join a gang.
